The 18 dialogues between Krishnamurti and Allan W Anderson are popular sources of his teachings. During the gatherings at Brockwood Park in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, some of them were shown in the school hall. Before videotapes became affordable, they were an annual treat for attendees.

Before the internet arrived, it was much more difficult to acquire knowledge. It was not until 3 years after I first read The Krishnamurti Reader that I heard of Brockwood, or even knew that he was alive. Later, from 1986 The Study Centre at Brockwood provided a single, comprehensive repository in Europe. With 20 rooms, guests may both enquire into his teachings and engage in dialogue with others.

Nowadays, however, thanks to the web and the sterling work of the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, his works are available everywhere. The recent extension into social media has been a great success, with some 1.1 million subscribers to his Instagram channel. As a world-wide average, across all age groups, 1 person in 7,500 is a subscriber. Europe has a population of nearly 750 million so, as a rough estimate, there are probably about 100,000 European subscribers. Twenty rooms can accommodate 1000 people for a week each year so, at that rate, it would take a century to accommodate them all.

Although Krishnamurti’s works are now available everywhere, the possibility of face-to-face dialogues is not. This suggests that local meetings would fulfil the remit of the Study Centre for a wider audience.

Within the United Kingdom, Anstey is well placed to serve the East Midlands. It is easy to reach from the M1, M69 and A46. The village is well furnished with shops, including restaurants and take-aways, and a short walk over the fields is Bradgate Park, itself set within the Charnwood Forest Geopark.

Its library has a meeting room equipped with a smart TV, enabling Krishnamurti YouTube videos to be seen. I envisage a Krishnamurti meeting once a month on a Saturday morning, from 11am to 1pm. If you are interested, please complete the form below:
