I recently emailed Sir Ed Davey, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the United Kingdom Parliament:
Caring for the Carer
Dear Sir Ed,
I write to you both in your capacity as Leader of the Lib Dems and as the most prominent carer in the House.
In its second introductory essay, The Twin Mode Mind proposes a policy tool to support carers.
The concluding essay, Parliament Omnibus, discusses caring within a philosophical framework to suggest a radical innovation in our democratic institutions. It notes that, in the globalized economy, we exchange almost everything: food, manufactured goods, services, capital, labour, students, tourists, migrants, cultural items, science, technology, diseases, pollutants and, via the environment, the very matter in our bodies. Among the few things we do not presently exchange are votes and elected representatives.
